Psyche & Soul 12: Balancing Autonomy and Dependence
ANIMATION NOTES Posted by PARAPPULLY Jose, New Delhi
This weekend we shall look at one requisite for emotional wellbeing and success in life:  Balancing Autonomy and Dependence.
Ability to think for oneself, and make choices and decisions based on one`s own internal convictions characterise an emotionally mature person. At the same time such a person is also capable of depending on and collaborating with others as necessitated by situations.

Psyche & Soul - 11: SELF-ACCEPTANCE
PRAYER SERVICE Posted by PARAPPULLY Jose, New Delhi
This weekend we shall focus on Self-Acceptance which is a foundational requisite for emotional health and happiness.
Self-acceptance, as the great psychologist Carl Jung points out, is not only an essential requisite for emotional wellbeing, but also influences our way of being in the world. In his own words: ``Acceptance of oneself is ...the acid test of one`s whole outlook on life.``

Psyche & Soul - 10 WHO AM I REALLY?
ANIMATION NOTES Posted by PARAPPULLY Jose, New Delhi
Last weekend we explored the role of meaningfulness in living a healthy and happy life. This weekend we shall explore an important dimension of this meaningfulness. Our self-understanding of who we are.
``Who am I really?`` This is a question all of us ask sometime in our life. Some of us find an answer, others continue to keep asking the question.

Psyche & Soul 9 LIVING WITH MEANING AND PURPOSE
ANIMATION NOTES Posted by PARAPPULLY Jose, New Delhi
Recent research on health and happiness show that a sense of meaning in life is one of the major contributors to emotional and physical wellbeing. Emotionally healthy persons find life a meaningful adventure. They have something that gives meaning and significance to their life, such as an ideology, a dream, a commitment. According to the pioneering personality psychologist, Gordon Allport, ``one of the key challenges to maturity is to invest daily life with meaning—to find or create opportunities to make our lives matter``

Psyche & Soul 8 - NEED FULFILMENT AND EMOTIONAL MATURATION
ANIMATION NOTES Posted by PARAPPULLY Jose, New Delhi
This weekend we shall look at some basic needs that have to be satisfied for us to experience emotional maturation and wellbeing.

All of us - infants, children, adolescents and adults - are needy! Needy for food,  for rest,  for attention,  for appreciation,  for love ... and so on.

When our need is fulfilled, we feel happy and we spread happiness around. Psychologists have short listed our basic emotional needs to three: Relatedness, Competence and Autonomy. We need environments that facilitate fulfillment of these needs to grow healthy and happy.

STOP WORRYING AND START PRAYING
PRAYER SERVICE Posted by John Parankimalil, Guwahati
The coronavirus pandemic has drastically changed the world we live in. Worry is taking its toll on the world today and most people are worried about getting COVID-19. People are worried about their daily provision, their employment, their future, their health, their finances, their children, family and safety. This worry is causing a lot of ``anxiety,`` ``depression,`` ``mental disturbance,`` ``unknown fear`` etc. Whatever it may be, worrying has become a part of our life style. Some of us worry more than others. But regardless of whether you worry much or worry little, worry is a real and dangerous fact of our existence.

STAYING POSITIVE IN A CORONA WORLD
ARTICLES Posted by John Parankimalil, Guwahati
Staying positive when the news is all scary and gloom can be a hard, even for the most optimistic people. While it is true, we need to take the Coronavirus Pandemic seriously, it does not mean we have to let it break us. Yes, it is impacting our economy and causing illness worldwide. And, yes, we see, hear and read about these topics literally all day. But in times of constant negative messaging, you need an antidote. One that helps you keep a positive attitude to move forward with determination and hope.

Psyche & Soul 4 Threats to Healthy Adult Relationships: Insecure Attachments in Childhood
ANIMATION NOTES Posted by PARAPPULLY Jose, New Delhi
Two types of insecure attachments in childhood threaten healthy adult relationships.

Children who develop an ``anxious ambivalent`` attachment pattern  are plagued by insecurity which makes them reluctant to be close to others; when they do, they become very clinging and quite controlling in their relationships.

Children who develop an ``anxious avoidant`` attachment pattern avoid relationships and act as if they do not need relationships. They attempt to live without seeking love and support from others, and try to take care of themselves and become emotionally detached. These are the children who grow up to be great achievers, but who are hopeless at relationships.
