General Chapter 28 Re-Elects Father Ángel Fernández Artime as Rector Major

Mumbai, Mar. 11. General Chapter 28 of the Society of St. Francis deSales / Salesians of Don Bosco has re-elected Father Ángel Fernández Artime as Rector Major, for a second term for a period of 06 years, 2020-2026, in the very 1st round of voting.

Born on 21 August 1960 in Gozón-Luanco, Asturias-Spain, Father Artime, aged 59, made his 1st profession on 03 September 1978; his final profession on 17 June 1984 in Santiago deCompostela, and was ordained priest on 04 July 1987 in León, his mother province.

He was Youth Ministry Delegate, Rector at Ourense, Provincial Councillor, Vice-Provincial and Provincial of León from 2000-2006. He was also a member of the GC26 technical commission. 

In 2009, he was appointed Provincial of South Argentina and on 23 December 2013 as Provincial of the then new province of Mary Help of Christians in Spain, an office that he could not assume, since the  General Chapter 27 elected him as the 10th Successor of Don Bosco on 25 March 2014.
