Don Bosco Youth film Festival kicks off at St. Andrew`s College, Bandra

Mumbai, Jan. 30. The Don Bosco Youth Film Festival of India in collaboration with St. Andrew`s College, Bandra  was inaugurated by Father Godfrey D`Souza sdb, Provincial of Salesian Province of Mumbai on Friday, 27th January, 2017 at the St. Andrew`s College, Bandra.
Organised by Boscom South Asia the two day festival will witness screening of 24 short films by reputable film makers with the theme ``Youth and Nation Building``. It was a challenge to take the Film festival to different centres, and we are happy to bring it to over 100 venues across India.

Ms. Saudamini Bhagwat, Professor at St. Andrew`s College initiated and introduced the speakers on the dias and started the inaugural function at the beginning of the Film Festival.

Dr. Marie Fernandes, Principal of St. Andrew`s College, Bandra addressed the gathering  and said ``This short Films are a medium of expression and it should encourage each one of us to view it and change our lives and to build our nation.``
Father Magi Murzello, Rector of St. Andrew`s College and Principal of St. Andrew`s School addressed the gathering and mentioned that he was extremely happy to host this Film Festival at the college. It ignites the minds of youngsters through visual communication and collaboration is good for networking to help youngsters achieve their goals. He felicitated the Chief Guest with a bouquet of flowers.

Father Godfrey D`Souza, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Mumbai while addressing the college staff and students mentioned the aim of organising the Don Bosco Youth Film Festival organised by Boscom, South Asia at around 100 venues in India. He enumerated the theme of the Film Festival  ``Youth and Nation Building`` and encouraged the students to be creative and harness the power of youth towards nation building.
The Don Bosco Film Festival awards were announced by Father Joaquim Fernandes - The First place is awarded to the short Film ``SAAVAT`` directed by Ms. Jyoti Toradmal, second place is awarded to ``PAYWAT`` directed by Mr. Mithunchandra Choudhari and third place has been awarded to ``BACKBONE`` directed by Mr. Karunakaran. C. They were many category awards and special awards too. These awards will be given by the Rector Major, Father Angel Fernandes, Superior General of the Salesian Congregation at Don Bosco Citadel, Chennai in the month of March 2017.
