After the concluding speech of the retreat, Pope Francis kissed the feet of the President and Vice Presidents of South Sudan, an extraordinary sign to invoke the commitment of South Sudanese leaders for peace. Subsequently, a Bible signed by the Holy Father, Archbishop Welby and Rev. John Chalmers, former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Scotland, was delivered to the participants with the message: ''Research what unites. Overcome what divides''. Thus the blessing was imparted to the leaders of South Sudan, who made the common commitment to peace.
